About
Ang Xia Yi's practice spans drawing, painting, photography, and archival intervention. Her practice threads on themes of ancestral history, knowledge systems, reconstructed memories and broader contemporary crises of the displacement of people, languages and cultures concerning Southeast Asia. Her interest in the vernacular aspects of material culture allows her to embrace material as carriers of intimacy, trauma and violence that transcend beyond generations.
She briefly pursued her BA in Fashion Journalism at Central Saint Martins, London and has previously worked in image and garment-making.
